Surface pro recovery key blocked on keyboard

My Surface pro (Win 10 prof -1809) got a sudden bluescreen and doesn’t reboot. Trying all possible reboots I always get asking for Bitlock recovery Key number. My bitlock key has numbers and letters but program only accepts numbers. Why does recovery key not work for my Surface?
